LEGO Ideas 21373 Downton Abbey: Worth the Wait?

"We’ve been expecting you." That’s what LEGO seems to be saying with the new Ideas set, 21373 Downton Abbey. And honestly, after the glacial pace of approvals, we’ve been expecting this one too. The price tag, when it eventually lands in India, is going to be a conversation starter. For now, no official Indian prices are out, but the grapevine suggests this monumental landmark won't be cheap.

This isn’t just another LEGO castle; it’s Downton Abbey, or Highclere Castle for the uninitiated. The LEGO Ideas team has taken a beloved property and, after what sounds like a lengthy intellectual property negotiation, delivered a set that aims for grandeur. The review from New Elementary hints at a monumental build, focusing on the architectural accuracy and the challenge of translating a real-world country house into plastic bricks. They received an early copy, which means we’re getting a peek behind the curtain before anyone else.

The build itself is described as intricate, with a focus on capturing the essence of Highclere Castle. Expect clever building techniques and a satisfying construction process for those who appreciate architectural LEGO. The design team’s input suggests a strong emphasis on authenticity, aiming to please both LEGO fans and devotees of the show. This isn't a set you'll rush through; it's a journey into stately home construction. The piece count, though not explicitly stated, is implied to be substantial, fitting for a “monumental landmark.”

Display value is clearly a priority here. The review hints that 21373 is designed to be a showstopper, a centrepiece for any collection. The exterior details are likely to be sharp, and the interior, if accessible, would offer a glimpse into the world of the Crawleys. It’s the kind of set that demands a prominent spot on your shelf, a conversation starter that goes beyond just being a pile of bricks. This is for the fan who appreciates the finer things, both in television and in plastic.

However, the real question for us here in India is always going to be about the price. The source material is light on specifics regarding the US retail price, but the nature of Ideas sets, especially large architectural ones, means we’re looking at a significant investment. The approval process alone suggests this wasn't a quick or cheap endeavour for LEGO, and that cost will inevitably be passed on.

LEGO.in and Toycra will likely stock this 4–6 weeks after the global launch. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

Given the estimated price point, it’s wise to hold off for now. While the set promises an exceptional build and display experience, the initial cost will likely be steep. Waiting for a potential sale or price adjustment is the sensible play here. This is a set that will appeal to a very specific demographic – fans of the show and lovers of detailed architectural builds – and they might be willing to pay a premium. For the average fan, patience is key.

On that bombshell, it's time to say goodbye. I'll see you on the next one. Bubyee.

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.

Standard disclaimer: if you're rich, you can skip the verdict and just buy it. The rest of us will be here doing math before we hit checkout.

Updated 1 Oct 2026: estimated price removed; official Indian pricing not yet announced.

Updated 2 Oct 2026: MyBrickHouse's online store is now LEGO.in.

Correction (3 October 2026): we removed a US price, and any rupee figure worked out from it, because it isn't the Indian price.
