LEGO Turntable: A Working Vinyl Player That's Actually Cool

You know that feeling. You’re building a LEGO set, maybe something intricate, maybe something massive, and you’re thinking about the price tag. Then you see a creation like this, and you realise sometimes the coolest builds don't need to be record-breakers for size or piece count. LEGO has given us some pretty wild electronic creations over the years, but a fully functional vinyl record player? That’s a new one.

Olle Moquist has built not one, but two working LEGO turntables. And to really dial up the fun, he’s added a modular mixer and sampler, so you can actually DJ with LEGO bricks. The core of the operation relies on two 9V train controllers and a Technic control center from a 1990s set. Now, LEGO doesn't exactly make record styluses, so a real Audio Technica cartridge and a small microcontroller are doing the heavy lifting on that front.

The whole setup looks genuinely impressive, even if Moquist himself hasn't quite mastered the art of DJing yet. It’s a reminder that LEGO bricks can be more than just static models; they can be integrated into functional, creative projects that push the boundaries of what we expect from the toy. We’ve seen LEGO guitars, LEGO pianos, and now, a LEGO DJ booth. The possibilities for integrating real-world functionality with the brick system are vast, and this build is a fantastic example of that.

Official Indian pricing hasn't been announced yet, and given this is a custom build and not an official set, we're unlikely to see one anytime soon. If this were officially sold in India, it would cost roughly the same as a month's worth of decent chai and samosas from your favourite street vendor. LEGO.in and Toycra are the stores to watch for official releases, though a build like this remains a fan creation. Code ABHINAV12 takes 12% off full-price sets at Toycra, minimum order ₹500.

While this specific turntable isn't an official LEGO set you can buy off the shelf, it’s a brilliant proof to the creativity within the LEGO fan community. It’s the kind of build that inspires you to look at your own brick collection and wonder, “What else can I make work?” It’s proof that with enough ingenuity and a few non-LEGO parts, you can turn your hobby into a functioning piece of art. This isn't about breaking records; it's about breaking new ground in what a LEGO build can be.

On that bombshell, bubyee.
