LEGO 40862 Holiday Ornament Selection 2 Announced for 2026

Your wallet can breathe a little easier, but perhaps not for long. LEGO has unveiled the 40862 Holiday Ornament Selection 2, a collection of four festive baubles designed to adorn your Christmas tree. This set, featuring 179 pieces, is slated for a 2026 release. It continues the tradition of seasonal ornaments, following up on previous offerings.

The four ornaments are all built around an 8-stud diameter circular plate. Two of these are classic holiday symbols: a candy cane entwined with greenery and a miniature Christmas tree complete with tiny fairy lights. The tree ornament includes four glow-in-the-dark round tiles, though their intended representation is unclear. Given that much of these two ornaments are green, they might blend into a real Christmas tree a bit too much.

The other two ornaments offer a more distinct visual appeal. One is a black and white cat's head set against a light blue backdrop, and the other features Mrs. Claus with rosy cheeks and holly accents. Both wear Santa hats, with Mrs. Claus's hat notably draping over her shoulder with an oversized bobble. The facial details on both figures are skillfully rendered using a few tiles, creating expressive and appealing designs. The cat, in particular, is quite endearing with its large eyes and ears peeking out from under its hat. Mrs. Claus manages to convey a smile without a visible mouth, a clever design choice.

These ornaments come with attachment rings, similar to those seen in the LEGO DOTS line, which should easily slide onto tree branches. For those who prefer a different look, these rings can be swapped out for thread or ribbon to hang them lower. While these new designs are considered an improvement over the previous Christmas Ornament Selection set, they might look quite at home hanging alongside older decorations.

At a price point of ₹1,299, this set is positioned as an affordable seasonal addition or a potential stocking filler. However, the MRP is listed at ₹1,200, indicating a slight markup upon release. The set is expected to be available on LEGO.in, though it may be out of stock.

At ₹1,299, that's about 14 months of Spotify Premium or enough to buy 23 kg of Amul butter. LEGO.in lists it for ₹1,299, though it may be out of stock. Expect it to land in Indian stores with a 4–6 week lag from its global release date. The set's release in 2026 means there's still some time before it hits shelves, giving fans a chance to save up or decide if it fits their holiday decorating scheme.

WAIT

Verdict: WAIT. Good set, but the price will drop.
